Featured Studio piece 4-26-10

Today I am featuring another of my lampwork creations. This is a lovely abstract heart shaped pendant that I made myself. I was practicing trying to create heart shaped lampwork beads and this was as close as I got. The colors remind me of fire with the slight hint of orange combined with the bright red. I them added a few faceted glass beads for fun and voila! A lovely pendant on a brass chain! $22.50 (sale price)

Featured Studio Piece 4-14-10

Today I would like to feature one of my more colorful and complicated wire pieces. It was inspired by the look and shape of peacock feathers. I used a light purple mothe rof pearls coin for the focal point or "eye" of this feather inspired necklace. I then surrounded it with brass beads, deep green freshwater pearls, and smokey quartz beads for a grounding neutral. The frame and wrapping wire is brass. The chain I used is a gold toned chain. This is a large necklace, a real statement piece, very bold and bright. $65

Featured Studio piece 3-24-10

Today I would like to feature one of my resin based pieces. This lovely bracelet is a steampunk inspired piece using multiple cast resin pieces. I use Easy Cast resin and various molds and am willing to encase pretty much anything that will stand still. In this case, I used gears, cogs and other miscellaneous watch parts. I then drilled holes into the them and used my wire skills to link them together. This fun bracelet is a chunky, steamy bauble that any gear head is sure to enjoy! $25

Featured piece 3-13-10

I am on a mini-vacation this weekend so featured pieces might be getting into my blog a little later than usual.

Today's featured piece is made from copper and brass wire, wrapped around a swarovski rhinestone and adorned with different gemstone briolettes. I then used a brass colored chain to dangle it from, completing the piece.
