Featured Studio Piece 4-14-10

Today I would like to feature one of my more colorful and complicated wire pieces. It was inspired by the look and shape of peacock feathers. I used a light purple mothe rof pearls coin for the focal point or "eye" of this feather inspired necklace. I then surrounded it with brass beads, deep green freshwater pearls, and smokey quartz beads for a grounding neutral. The frame and wrapping wire is brass. The chain I used is a gold toned chain. This is a large necklace, a real statement piece, very bold and bright. $65

Featured piece 3-14-10

Today's featured piece is something that is quickly becoming a new jewelry trend: chainmaille. I started playing with the idea of chainmailling many years ago. I am a Renaissance festival nerd and attend several a year all dressed in garb. I looked at how thw chainmaille armor was constructed and wondered if I could do that as well. This bracelet is the fruits of that labor. I made a brass wire chainmailled diamond shape and decided to simply add a length of chain to either side creating this stunning bracelet. $30

Featured Studio piece 3-10-10

Today I would like to feature a piece that I just listed to my studio last night. I created it back in November while spending an evening on the couch watching WWII in HD with my sweety (he's a history buff especially WWII). When I had finished the pieces, I showed it to him. He told me it was neat. It reminded him of a bright saxophone and jazz music in a smokey bar. And it does look like that to me, so I named the piece "Jazz night". It is made from a copper wire frame wrapped with red colored copper wire and decorated with brass and plastic round beads. I then put it on a brass colored chain. It costs $30.

I've been Indiespotted... AGAIN!

This is the 3rd time that Indiespotting has used one of my submissions. I keep submitting one every 7-14 days and they keep adding mine! That must mean they like my work... or they put everyone in the rotation but I'm going to pretend its the first option! YAY!
Check it out!

Featured Studio piece 3-9-10

Today I would like to feature a wire wrapped pendant from my studio. This pendant is built around a soapstone cabachon. Soapstone is the stone of choice for worry stones, since you can rub on the smooth surface and over time wear it down. Putting this in a pendant is unusual but its lovely green and yellow color makes it an excellent focal. I cradled the cabachon in brass wire frames held together by tight brass wire wrapping. I then added some little labradodrite and iolite rounds for a splash of contrasting color. This piece will come with your choice of a brass or copper chain. $40
